Daintree Dreaming – Aboriginal Culture, Rainforest & Art Tour

11 hours

Learn from First Nations guides at Cooya Beach, walk at Mossman Gorge and create a canvas at Janbal Gallery on a cultural day tour with lunch included.

Spend a day learning through coastal knowledge, rainforest and art with Down Under Tours. Daintree Dreaming brings together a guided cultural experience at Cooya Beach, a Mossman Gorge visit and a painting session at Janbal Gallery.

Learn through place and practice

At Kuyu Kuyu, or Cooya Beach, Kubirri Warra guides introduce traditional foods, bush medicines and hunting tools, with the opportunity to try spear throwing under their guidance. The coastal walk gives context to the landscape beyond its scenery.

Lunch is at Mayi Café at Mossman Gorge Cultural Centre, followed by a driver-guided rainforest walk. At Janbal Gallery, a guided painting and storytelling session introduces Aboriginal art and gives you a small canvas to take home.

This tour suits travellers who want participatory cultural experiences rather than a day focused on swimming. You need reasonable mobility for the beach and rainforest paths; the order may change with tides. No artistic experience is needed.
