Three-Night Cod Hole & Ribbon Reefs Liveaboard – Spirit of Freedom
Dive the northern Ribbon Reefs and Cod Hole on a three-night liveaboard, with up to 11 dives and a scenic return flight from Lizard Island to Cairns.
Travel north through the Great Barrier Reef on Spirit of Freedom’s three-night Cod Hole and Ribbon Reefs itinerary. The trip begins by boat in Cairns and ends at Lizard Island, with a scenic flight bringing you back to the city.
A journey built around diving
The itinerary offers up to 11 dives, including one night dive. After initial outer reef diving, overnight travel takes you towards the northern Ribbon Reefs and Cod Hole, with individual sites determined by conditions.
A guided orientation dive and site briefings are included, but most diving is in buddy pairs without a dedicated guide. Cabin accommodation, meals and selected equipment are included; items such as BCDs, regulators and computers are hired separately if required.
This is a remote diving itinerary with certification and recent-experience requirements. Snorkellers are welcome on this shorter itinerary, but should discuss suitability before booking. It is distinct from the more demanding Coral Sea departures.

- The boat departs Cairns on Thursday at approximately 12:00 pm. The trip concludes on Sunday at approximately 11:30 am.
- Diving guests need at least Open Water certification and 10 logged ocean dives, including 5 within the previous 12 months. Bring certification and logbook evidence.
- The minimum passenger age is 16.
- Most diving is unguided and done with a buddy. Introductory diving is unavailable.
- BCD, regulator, dive computer, torch and wetsuit rental costs extra.
- Nitrox and additional drinks cost extra. Advise dietary requirements when booking.
