Seven-Night Ribbon Reefs & Coral Sea Liveaboard – Spirit of Freedom
Combine Cod Hole, the Ribbon Reefs and Osprey Reef on a seven-night dive expedition from Cairns, with up to 26 dives and onboard accommodation and meals.
Spend a week moving between the northern Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea on Spirit of Freedom. This seven-night itinerary combines the Cod Hole and Ribbon Reefs journey with the longer offshore expedition towards Osprey Reef.
More locations, with time at sea
Up to 26 dives, including two night dives, are offered across the trip. The programme brings together reef gardens, Cod Hole and remote coral walls, with the route and individual sites dependent on conditions.
Most diving is conducted in buddy pairs without a dedicated guide. Site briefings and a guided orientation are included. Cabin accommodation, meals and selected equipment are provided; full equipment hire and extras need to be checked separately.
The trip departs and returns to Cairns, with a passenger changeover for shorter itineraries at Lizard Island partway through. It suits experienced Advanced divers who want an extended diving itinerary and meet the logged-dive requirements. It is unsuitable for snorkellers.

- Diving guests need at least Advanced Open Water certification and 20 logged ocean dives, including 5 within the previous 12 months. Bring certification and logbook evidence.
- The minimum passenger age is 16.
- This itinerary is unsuitable for snorkellers. Guests need to be able to swim in open water.
- Most diving is unguided and done with a buddy.
- BCD, regulator, dive computer, torch and wetsuit rental costs extra.
- Passengers on the shorter Spirit of Freedom trips change over at Lizard Island partway through this expedition.
